Jerash The ancient city of Jerash is located about about 50km from Amman. It was founded in the fourth centurey BC by the Semantic people. During its Greek colonisation it flourished as a trading centre and in the second half of the first century AD it enjoyed great prosperity from trade with caravans. Today the site of Jerash is in an excellent state of preservation as a result of it restoration and having been abandoned during the Crusades and having only been repopulated from 1878. |

treasure-city of the Nabataeans. Petra (Greek, "city of rock") is situated
in the land of Edom, between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqabah.
